General Information

Registering a Non-Governmental Organization in the Cape Coast Metropolis is a requirement before opening for operation. Below are the instructions for properly Registering a Non-Governmental Organizations.

ALL NON-GOVERNMENTAL ORGANIZATIONS NOT REGISTERED ARE SUBJECT TO TERMINATION WITHOUT NOTICE!

Registering an NGO

Obtain the following from Accra Registrar General’s Department:

1. Certificate to Commence Business
2. Certificate of Incorporation
3. Company’s Code

Write application letter to Metro Chief Executive and copy to Dept of Soc Welfare.

Register with Metro Assembly, to obtain a license to operate in the Metro.

Obtain the following from Social Welfare Office in Cape Coast:

1. Purchase NGO Registration Form

Provide the following from your own records:

• Copy of your NGOs constitution

Upon completion of collecting the following items, bring 6 copies of each to Department of Social Welfare, Cape Coast for Social Investigation. Once the Social Investigation is complete, collect all of the forms, and take them to Accra Head Office of Department of Social Welfare, located in the Ministries for Certificate of Recognition. This Certificate is renewable annually.
